Several Injuries Affect AEW Dynamite Booking

AEW changed plans due to several injuries before Dynamite

Plans had to be changed during last night’s AEW Dynamite, as the roster was hit with a few injuries that played a part in altering the lineup for the event. Heading into last night’s Dynamite in North Charleston, South Carolina, the Best Friends (Trent Beretta & Chuck Taylor) were set to face the Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) in a clash of AEW originals.

However, shortly before AEW went live, a video was posted to X with both teams standing backstage with Renee Paquette. It was explained firstly that Taylor’s ankle was “all jammed up” and hurt worse than previously believed, leading to Orange Cassidy stepping in and taking his place. It was then revealed that Komander would be replacing Fenix in the match, though there was no official update on the condition of Fenix and no explanation as to why this change was being made to the bout.

Elsewhere on the show, Chris Jericho was interviewed backstage, and explained that the absence of his tag team partner Sammy Guevara was due to an injury suffered at Battle of the Belts IX, where Powerhouse Hobbs’ interference led to Guevara crashing down from a big height, and suffering an undisclosed injury. It isn’t clear whether this is a worked injury or legit as of now.
