Sheamus Reveals He Almost Quit WWE In 2016 After Low Draft Placing

We almost never got The Bar

Sheamus has revealed he almost quit WWE in 2016.

WWE reintroduced the brand split in July 2016 and after a lacklustre first half of the year, Sheamus fell to the 30th overall pick in the draft, the final selection by Raw during the TV broadcast.

The Celtic Warrior revealed on the WWE Network's WrestleMania 37 documentary that he was very angry after being drafted below so many other Superstars and he almost quit the company as a result.

"The draft came and I had just been WWE Champion up until the end of December [2015]. And I was the last pick on the draft. I'm thinking to myself like, 'How have I gone from 'The Guy' to the last pick of the draft?' I was like, 'This is a serious fall from grace.' I was so angry, man, I was ready... I kind of felt like ready to walk [out]. I really did. I felt like, 'What am I doing? I'm not enjoying this anymore,'" Sheamus said.

Sheamus would ultimately feud and then team with Cesaro as The Bar after being drafted to Raw. They became one of the centrepieces of WWE's tag team division until 2019, enjoying five reigns as tag team champions along the way.
