AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa has been out of action since early August with a back injury, but if AEW promotional materials are to be believed, there’s no sign of Rosa returning to the company anytime soon.
AEW recently announced a return to San Antonio, Texas on December 21 for the Holiday Bash specials of Dynamite and Rampage, notably omitting Rosa from the promotional posters. Rosa is a San Antonio local, with her victory over Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s Championship at St. Patrick's Day Slam in March coming in front of a hometown San Antonio crowd, with Rosa receiving a heroes welcome as she took on Baker in a Steel Cage Match.
Whilst it is possible that Rosa could return before then, or that AEW will want Rosa’s return to be a surprise, you would assume the company would put the hometown favourite front and centre of local promotional materials in order to give ticket sales a boost.
Whenever Thunder Rosa does return, it has been confirmed that she will face whoever is the holder of the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship in a title unification bout, as is AEW protocol.
