Earlier this week, many fans were shocked with the emergence of news that NXT’s Duke Hudson had been released from the company, especially since no other names were let go alongside him. Last night, several more wrestlers were released from WWE, this time from the main roster.
Reports began to emerge from both PWInsider and Fightful Select that multiple names were either not having their contracts renewed or were being released immediately, becoming free agents after their 90 day non-compete clause ends. Cedric Alexander, Sonya Deville, Akam & Rezar of The AOP, Paul Ellering and Blair Davenport are the names that have been let go.
Alexander signed with WWE back in 2016 following an impressive performance in the Cruiserweight Classic, going on to win the Cruiserweight Championship and the RAW Tag Team Championships as part of The Hurt Syndicate. Sonya Deville signed with WWE after competing in the 2015 Tough Enough competition, notably teaming with Mandy Rose and having a spell as an authority figure. The AOP are former RAW Tag Team Champions who re-emerged on WWE programming last year for their second spell with the company, joining up with Karrion Kross alongside manager Paul Ellering as part of The Final Testament. Finally, Blair Davenport joined the NXT UK brand back in 2021, finally making it to the main roster in 2024.
We wish all these wrestlers the best of luck in their respective futures.
