A formerly injured WWE talent will be making their return to TV on tonight's edition of Friday Night SmackDown at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

That is according to Dr Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda, who reported that Braun Strowman will be Carmelo Hayes' surprise opponent on SmackDown. The match was set up on last week's show from the blue brand when Nick Aldis revealed Hayes would take on an opponent who would be a 'new superstar' to SmackDown. This comes after WWE introduced a 'Transfer Window' for talents to move between Monday Night Raw, SmackDown, and NXT.

Braun Strowman has been off WWE TV since suffering a torn groin during his Last Monster Standing Match against Bronson Reed in September. Strowman was a Raw talent at the time and he hasn't been a part of SmackDown since April 2023.

Strowman has wrestled since September, working a dark match at the November 15 episode of SmackDown where he teamed with Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee to defeat Judgment Day's Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Carlito.
