A return could be set to take place on Friday's edition of SmackDown from Brooklyn, New York.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Shinsuke Nakamura is expected to be at SmackDown this week. WWE will be taping two episodes of SmackDown due to the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view from Saudi Arabia.

Nakamura has been off WWE programing since a loss to Sheamus on the April 22 edition of Monday Night Raw and the former WWE Intercontinental Champion has only picked up two wins on TV in almost a year.

Nakamura hasn't been suffering from an injury for the past six months, though, and he is simply not being booked for TV by WWE.

The 44-year-old has been utilised on WWE house shows and he has had 19 live event matches since his last Raw outing. This included WWE's UK tour in recent weeks where Nakamura lost to LA Knight on each night of the tour.

The 'King of Strong Style' is set to return to Pro Wrestling NOAH in 2025 and he will be in action against former MMA fighter Ulka Sasaki at NOAH The New Year on January 1.

Nakamura returned to NOAH in January 2023, defeating The Great Muta.
