Spoiler: WWE Crowns New Champion At SmackDown Taping

There is a brand new champion in WWE

Following night one of the 2024 WWE Draft at Friday Night SmackDown last night, WWE ran some more tapings for the brand new “Speed” show, which airs on X and has wrestlers compete in three-minute time limit sprint matches. A tournament has been held to determine a new titleholder in WWE, with the winner being crowned with the WWE Speed Championship. Spoilers for the tournament finals follow.

The finals of that tournament were taped last night in which Ricochet defeated Johnny Gargano to become the first ever WWE Speed Champion, as was revealed by several pictures taken by fans posted onto X, such as by user @WrestlingFall1.

Ricochet outlasted Dragon Lee and JD McDonagh on his way to the finals of the Speed tournament, whereas Johnny Gargano defeated Angel and “Big” Bronson Reed to make it to the last match in the bracket. The title design, as shown in the pictures taken by fans, seems to take some inspiration from the old WWE Cruiserweight Championship, though no clear pictures or official pictures of the title have been revealed thus far.
