Stephanie McMahon Comments On Appointment As Interim WWE CEO & Chairwoman

Stephanie McMahon is at the top of WWE

In a major change for WWE, it was announced today that a Special Committee of the WWE board are investigating the misconduct allegations against Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis that emerged earlier this week. Vince McMahon has voluntarily stepped back as WWE CEO and Chairman until the investigation concludes, with Stephanie McMahon being appointed as his interim replacement. Vince will, however, continue to work on WWE creative.

Taking to Twitter following WWE's announcement, Stephanie McMahon commented on her new position, writing: "Until the conclusion of the investigation into recent allegations, I am honored to assume the role of interim Chairwoman & CEO. I love @WWE and all it continues to do to entertain billions around the world."

Stephanie also commented further within a WWE press release, adding: "I love this company and am committed to working with the Independent Directors to strengthen our culture and our Company; it is extremely important to me that we have a safe and collaborative workplace. I have committed to doing everything in my power to help the Special Committee complete its work, including marshaling the cooperation of the entire company to assist in the completion of the investigation and to implement its findings."

McMahon announced back on May 19 that she was taking a leave of absence from most of her duties as WWE Chief Brand Officer. That leave of absence is now over following today's changes.
