Steve Austin Doesn't Rule Out WWE Dream Match With CM Punk

Steve Austin suggests CM Punk WWE dream match isn’t off the cards

For the longest time wrestling fans weren’t sure what was less likely - Stone Cold Steve Austin coming out of retirement, or CM Punk returning to WWE.

Fast forward to 2024 and both have come true, with Austin dusting off his jorts for a main event brawl with Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 38 Night One, whilst Punk shockingly came back to WWE at Survivor Series 2023 after his firing from AEW.

Now the question is will we finally get a dream Austin vs. Punk match? Austin himself hasn’t ruled it out, saying the following to ESPN when advertising the upcoming WWE 2K24 video game:

“I said I'd never get in a ring again unless all the stars aligned. And for some reason, somehow, they all did. And at the age of 57, I headlined the first night of WrestleMania. I never thought I'd do that. If you'd have told me that when I retired in [2003], I'd have said, 'You're crazy.' So I'm not gonna sit here and say no to anything, because you never say never in this crazy business of sports entertainment,” said Austin.

Fans have literally asked for an Austin Punk match for decades, with the two even teasing confrontations at times during Punk’s original WWE run.
