Sting Mentions Cody Rhodes On AEW Dynamite
Sting brings up Cody Rhodes during his AEW promo segment with MJF
Apr 13, 2023
Cody Rhodes was mentioned in All Elite Wrestling, this time on the Wednesday, April 12 episode of Dynamite by none other than Sting.
Darby Allin has been involved in the AEW World Title picture in recent weeks and after the former TNT Champion defeated Swerve Strickland in the opening match of Dynamite, MJF made his way to the ring to take shots at Darby.
After a back-and-forth, Sting made his own way to the ring and quickly shut down talk of being Darby's father, instead first referring to himself as a cheerleader, flicking pom-poms in MJF's face in the process, before he mentioned he was Allin's support system and that MJF had to get away from this "Cody daycare stuff." Following audible "oohhhs" from the fans in attendance, Sting pulled a shocked face before he mentioned that MJF threw away his support system, something Surfer Sting didn't do with Ric Flair, before he gave a shout-out to The Nature Boy.
Sting then mentioned his past gimmicks, giving a shout-out to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, and The Icon even referenced his Joker persona from TNA. Sting then stated he doesn't plan on challenging for the AEW World Championship as "showtime is almost over", but "showtime" is just beginning for Darby Allin and the WWE Hall of Famer promised Darby would be AEW World Champion.
Cody Rhodes was a key member of All Elite Wrestling, founding the promotion with Tony Khan and The Young Bucks in January 2019. Cody then served as an AEW Executive Vice President before leaving in February 2022. The American Nightmare made his return to WWE soon after at WrestleMania 38 and he has been presented as a top star so far, although he failed to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39 on April 2.
When exactly Sting will retire has not been revealed but The Franchise is expected to finally call it a career later this year when his AEW contract expires.
