Sting's Retirement Match At AEW Revolution Confirmed

Sting's final match is official for AEW Revolution

Sting's retirement match at AEW Revolution has been made official.

In his final-ever professional wrestling match, Sting will team with Darby Allin to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks on March 3 inside the Greensboro Coliseum. The Young Bucks had already issued the challenge for Sting's retirement match which Darby Allin accepted on behalf of The Icon on Wednesday night's edition of Dynamite just before The Bucks were set to attack Tony Schiavone. Allin accepted the challenge, noting that Sting has nothing to lose at Revolution.

Sting & Darby Allin vs. The Young Bucks was set up after the AEW EVPs returned from a leave of absence in January with new gimmicks. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson then attacked Sting and Darby Allin on last week's episode of Dynamite immediately after they had won the AEW World Tag Team Championships from Ricky Starks and Big Bill. The Young Bucks left Sting bloodied during the post-match beatdown and they have continued to wear the blood-stained suits on AEW programming.

Sting was deeply involved in the booking of his retirement match and he personally chose The Young Bucks as his final opponents, reportedly due to how much fun he had working with them at Forbidden Door 2022. Sting was initially resistant to winning the AEW World Tag Team Titles but he was said to be all-smiles last week after the win.
