Tama Tonga Re-Signs With NJPW

Sticking around

Tama Tonga isn't going anywhere.

The Bullet Club member announced on February 6 that he had been a free agent since January 30, 2022, but added the hashtag '#misinformation,' creating some confusion as to whether he was actually free to sign with another promotion.

In clarifying the situation on his Tama's Island podcast, Tonga confirmed he was indeed a free agent but he has since re-signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

The 39-year-old has been with the Japanese promotion since 2010 and was a founding member of Bullet Club in 2013. He has remained with the faction ever since through its many iterations.

Tonga has spent much of his career as a tag team wrestler and he and his brother Tanga Loa have held the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship seven times since they began teaming in 2016. They also achieved tag team success in Ring Of Honor, holding the promotion's tag team belts for 105 days in 2019.

Tama Tonga is also a four-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
