The defence attorney for Tammy "Sunny" Sytch is seeking a shorter sentence for the WWE Hall of Famer.

Court records show that Sytch's attorney has filed a motion to request a "downward departure" as Sytch "requires specialized treatment for a mental disorder that is unrelated to substance abuse or addiction or for a physical disability, and the defendant is amenable to treatment." The defence attorney has listed two witnesses, Dr. Jeffrey Danzinger and Dr. John Matthew Fabian, who are forensic and clinical psychiatrists.

The motion has requested that Sytch's sentence be less than the minimum sentence of 10.5 years in prison. Prosecutors have already requested that Sytch receive the maximum penalty of 26 years. Sytch will be sentenced on November 27.

Sytch pleaded no contest to charges of DUI causing death, driving with a suspended license causing death, four misdemeanour counts of DUI with damage to a person, and two misdemeanour charges of DUI with damage to property in August. The WWE Hall of Famer was charged following a fatal car crash on March 25, 2022 that resulted in the death of 75-year-old Julian Lasseter. Sytch's blood alcohol level was over three-and-a-half times above the legal limit at the time of the crash and an open bottle of vodka was found in her car at the scene.

When Sytch entered her plea of no contest, the former Sunny claimed she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder.
