Wendy Choo in WWE Evolve

Wendy Choo was one of several names cut from WWE’s developmental NXT brand over the last few days, standing out as the most prominent name on the list due to her lengthy tenure in the company, which stretched back eight years to her first appearance back in 2018, when she competed in the Mae Young Classic. News has emerged over the response in the company to Choo’s departure from the promotion.

According to a report from Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, it was noted that, “Apparently the whole PC was shocked that Wendy Choo was released.”

The backstage reaction being one of shock and confusion suggests that she was regarded highly within the company. Choo’s WWE journey has seen her spend her run within the developmental brand, failing to receive a main roster call-up. During her time in NXT, she competed as the magical and ancient stable leader Mei Ying, before being repackaged into the sleepy Wendy Choo, who wrestled in pyjamas. Over the last year or so, she transitioned over to the Evolve brand, winning the Evolve Women’s Championship. In recent months, Choo had actually begun wrestling on the main roster show Main Event, before receiving her release.
