Former WWE star Tegan Nox (AKA Nixon Newell) has opened up about the difference between how she and the company wanted to present her.
During a Sign-It-Live appearance for Highspots, Nox noted that she wanted her on-screen character to reflect her own pop-punk/emo personality, but claimed WWE saw her as something else.
"I'm very emo, pop-punk. This is me. Tegan Nox was so far removed from me that I was trying to get this through but I just wasn't allowed. They preferred me to be the girl next door, instead of tattooed up punk kid," she said.
The 30-year-old was released in November 2024, having been brought back to the company in December 2022, after being let go for the first time in November 2021.
Following her most recent release, Nox was scheduled to compete for ATTACK! Pro Wrestling on December 14 and 15, but her bookings were cancelled for unknown reasons.
However, she became a free agent on January 30 and will wrestle for ATTACK! on May 18 when she takes on Dani Luna. Nox last competed on July 5 when she lost to Blair Davenport in a dark match prior to a SmackDown taping.
