The Forbidden Door will be kicked open once more on June 30, with the third annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view taking place in Long Island, New York.

One of the marquee matches on the show will see IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley put the title on the line against former champ Tetsuya Naito, with Naito clearly desperate to bring the championship back to New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

Speaking to Tokyo Sports* ahead of the show, Naito announced he will forfeit his spot in the upcoming NJPW G1 Climax tournament to Moxley should he fail to defeat the ‘Death Rider’:

"I wonder if they didn't offer him the tournament, or if they did and he turned them down. I don't know if Moxley will have the schedule open, or if New Japan will approve it. However, there have been cases in the past where it was approved (when Satoshi Kojima handed it over to Hiroyoshi Tenzan before the 2016 tournament). If I don't get the belt back, the IWGP World Champion who has beaten me consecutively will be a much more deserving opponent than me. After all, it's a Grade 1 fight," said Naito.

The participants for the 34th edition of the historic tournament were revealed earlier this month, with Naito set to compete in Block A… should he defeat Moxley.
