Texas Death Match Announced For AEW Fyter Fest Night Two

Two old foes collide

A Texas Death match has been announced for next week's second night of AEW Fyter Fest, and it will be for the IWGP United States title.

Lance Archer issued the challenge to Jon Moxley, moments after Moxley retained the United States title over Karl Anderson, as part of Fyter Fest night one in Austin, TX.

Archer lost the IWGP United States title to Moxley on January 4, 2020 at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in Tokyo, in what was also a Texas Death match. Moxley has reigned as champion ever since.

Moxley's win over Anderson on Wednesday night was his fifth successful defense of the belt, in his second reign as champion. His previous successful defenses came against Juice Robinson, Minoru Suzuki, KENTA, and Yuji Nagata.

Moxley also defeated Archer in an AEW World title match in October 2020.

The card so far for the second night of Fyter Fest, taking place Wednesday, July 21 from the Curtis Culwell Center in Dallas, TX, is as follows:

* AEW Women's: Dr. Britt Baker DMD (c) vs. Nyla Rose

* IWGP United States/Texas Death match: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Lance Archer
