The Elite, CM Punk Not Mentioned On AEW Dynamite
All change on AEW Dynamite
Sep 8, 2022
Any All Elite Wrestling fans who don't follow professional wrestling news would have been very confused during Wednesday's edition of Dynamite.
Sunday's All Out pay-per-view ultimately went off the air with CM Punk as AEW World Champion, while The Elite became the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions earlier in the show. When Wednesday's episode of Dynamite opened, though, AEW President Tony Khan announced he had been forced to vacate the AEW World and World Trios Titles, not mentioning CM Punk, The Young Bucks, or Kenny Omega by name.
The Elite and Punk had also been removed from the opening of Dynamite, while a video of MJF's return at All Out did not feature Punk despite his involvement in the show-closing angle with the Casino Ladder Match winner.
CM Punk and The Elite's absences from Dynamite came after they had a backstage fight following Punk's All Out press conference on Sunday, September 4. Ace Steel was also involved on Punk's side, allegedly biting Kenny Omega and throwing a chair at Nick Jackson. Punk is also said to be dealing with an injury he suffered in the All Out main event and will require surgery.
Reports have noted that Kenny Omega, CM Punk, The Young Bucks, Christopher Daniels, Pat Buck, Michael Nakazawa, and Brandon Cutler have been suspended. Ace Steel is off the road too. A third party is investigating the backstage fight.
