The Miz: John Cena Taught Me How To Be A WWE Champion

The two main-evented WWE WrestleMania 27

The Miz has credited John Cena for teaching him the attributes required to be WWE Champion.

The two have feuded a number of times throughout the years, with Miz working with Cena first at Payback in 2009 before main eventing WrestleMania 27 in a WWE Title match with the 16-time champion a couple of years later.

Between 2009 and 2010, Cena and Miz also worked together frequently at live events, and the 40-year-old has hailed that time wrestling Cena as essential for his personal development as a superstar.

Speaking as a part of the WWE 24 Documentary, Miz said: "Once you get into WWE, it takes time to develop confidence, to be at a level in which you need to be, and sometimes you think you’re there but you’re not. And I didn’t realise I wasn’t there until I started wrestling John Cena.

"John Cena taught me more than I could ever imagine. I remember going on live events and learning from John Cena. He taught me what it takes to be the calibre of superstar I needed to be WWE Champion."
