From 2016 to 2018, The Miz was arguably one of the best Superstars on WWE TV. The A-Lister enjoyed three reigns as Intercontinental Champion and had memorable feuds with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler during the three-year period, but he never received a shot at the WWE Title.

He almost re-entered the world title picture in 2018, though. The Miz recently hinted to talkSPORT that his feud with Daniel Bryan was going to feature the WWE Championship, but, as is common in WWE, plans changed.

"Honestly, I think there was a time where I was going to go for it [with Daniel Bryan] and things change in WWE like that [snaps fingers]. I could be sitting here right now a three or four-time WWE champion," The Miz said.

"I look back at my career at how many times I felt like I was in the mix and I was ready and people are in my ear going 'ah, it's probably going to happen' and it just doesn't. So you never know."

2018 wasn't the only year The Miz was almost back in the world title picture. The A-Lister later mentioned he was "told many times" between 2016 and 2018 that he might win the WWE Championship a second time.

"I have been told many times - 2016, 2017, 2018 - there was a bunch of times where it's like 'oh, we're almost there' and then I get drafted or something else would happen. Certain things happen and the juggling is always happening. Sometimes you're there and it’s like 'ah, it actually happened!' and other times it's like [sighs]... I have to work harder. I have to be better, do better, keep elevating myself to get to that moment. And here we sit; that moment took a little while but it's kind of incredible," Miz added.
