John Cena has one foot in retirement with his final match coming in December, AJ Styles has confirmed his retirement for 2026, and reports this week have suggested that Chris Jericho’s potential WWE return may lead to a retirement tour. When it comes to who is next to bow out from professional wrestling, The Young Bucks feel as though they may not be far behind.

When speaking on The Takedown with SI, Matt & Nick Jackson were asked to reflect on many of those who have been bidding farewell to their careers. Nick Jackson noted that it feels like a certain era of talent is coming to an end.

“It feels like everyone is retiring. It’s very weird. It’s like a whole generation is wrapping up and we’re not far behind it, which kind of scares me.”

Matt & Nick Jackson have been wrestling for over 20 years and are now 40 and 36 years of age respectively. After considering that they may not be long off retirement, they noted some of the bucket list opponents to still tick off, including current AEW stars Adam Copeland and Christian Cage.

“I told someone this… that might be our last big money match, dream match that is left. I think we’ve done them all and that might be it.  I hope we can do it and it would be silly not to do it.”
