The Young Bucks Reveal How "Hangman" Adam Page's AEW Alcohol Storyline Was Conceived

Giving the wrestlers the freedom to express themselves...

"Hangman" Adam Page has become one of the biggest stars in All Elite Wrestling in recent months. He received a big push during the promotion's early months as he faced Chris Jericho at All Out to crown the inaugural AEW World Champion, but fans embraced The Hangman after he descended into alcoholism. The transformation has made the AEW World Tag Team Champion more of an unpredictable character but also a legitimate force of nature inside the squared circle.

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso at Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks discussed the 200th episode of Being The Elite. They explained that the show has ultimately given them the opportunity to express themselves creatively and helped The Elite develop their characters, as they revealed the concept of Hangman being an alcoholic was first conceived during a discussion about BTE.

Nick Jackson said: "One day Hangman walked up to me, Matt and Brandon Cutler, who helps film Being The Elite, and he said 'I think I want to become an alcoholic.' And I said 'What?' We heard his idea, which was incredible, and we said 'Let's do it.' Look at him now compared to where he was a year ago. He's a superstar."
