Three Title Matches Added To WWE Fastlane On SmackDown

Things are building ahead of SmackDown's final pay per view before WrestleMania.

Three title matches were added to the SmackDown-exclusive Fastlane pay per view on last night's show.

The PPV takes place on March 11th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, and now has four official matches on the card.

We already knew that AJ Styles would be defending his WWE Championship. After a rather convoluted series of events, he is now facing four challengers - Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, and Dolph Ziggler.

Several storylines were advanced on last night's SmackDown, leading to three further title matches being added to the pay per view.

SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair will defend her title against Ruby Riott, after the challenger's Riott Squad stable defeated the team of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Naomi.

Elsewhere, United States Champion Bobby Roode was again confronted by Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton - a three-way feud somewhat bizarrely revolving around spots in the 'SmackDown Top 10 List'. Roode attacked Orton, but was subsequently laid out by Mahal. Shane McMahon announced that Orton will face Roode for the title at Fastlane, but don't be surprised should Mahal be added to the mix in the weeks leading up to the show.

In the tag team division, the New Day defeated Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable to become number one contenders for The Usos' SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The Usos and New Day enjoyed a critically acclaimed feud in 2017, the highlight of which was perhaps a hard-hitting Hell in a Cell match in October.

With several weeks left to go until the pay per view, there's obviously no guarantee that these matches will remain unchanged until then. The next WWE pay per view is this weekend's Elimination Chamber show, featuring the first ever women's Elimination Chamber match - as well as the first ever seven-man Elimination Chamber. Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship is not scheduled to be defended on the show.
