Thunder Rosa Vs. Mercedes Martinez Set For 2/4 AEW Rampage

A month after signing with AEW, Mercedes Martinez will finally wrestle for the organization, taking on Thunder Rosa in a match set for next Friday night's episode of Rampage.
Martinez cost Rosa in her AEW TBS Women's title tournament semifinal bout against Jade Cargill on December 29. Rosa was attacked late in the match by a shrouded individual, who revealed herself to be Martinez in the post-match.
The match is not technically Martinez's debut with the company. She previously competed in the women's Casino Battle Royale at All Out in 2019, entering as the match's "Joker". She later signed with WWE in January 2020, where she remained until being released this past August.
Rosa and Martinez have wrestled each other at several indie events over the preceding months. The most recent match came at a Warrior Wrestling card in December, with Rosa emerging victorious.
AEW Rampage will be taped after this Wednesday's episode of Dynamite at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Also scheduled for the taping is an FTW title match pitting champion Ricky Starks against Jay Lethal.
