Lio Rush announced on social media Friday that has signed a deal with Universal Music Group.

Rush has released two studio albums (Ever After and The Final Match, both in 2020) and two EPs (11:11 in 2019, and Not Found in 2021) thus far in his career. Rush has also been a featured artist on several songs between 2018 and 2021.

Rush recently announced that his AEW contract expires after February 14, and is seeking indie bookings. Prior to the end of 2021, Rush was in a team with Dante Martin, feuding with members of Team Taz. His last appearance with the company came on the December 8 Dynamite.

Shortly before announcing his impending free agency, Rush spoke to Fightful. While complimentary to AEW, Rush said, "This is no secret, this is me pointing out the obvious; I'm a lone wolf. I go where I want, I like putting things on my resume and I like working different places and wrestling anybody and everybody. We've seen that since I left WWE. I've been to AAA, MLW, AEW, New Japan. (My independence) is very important. It's very important for my mental stability. I never really like being stuck in one spot, especially if I don't have control over that."
