The opening contest of WWE NXT No Mercy featured a title change as Axiom and Nathan Frazer managed to avoid any major mistakes on their way to defeating Chase U's Andre Chase and Ridge Holland to regain the NXT Tag Team Championships. The finish saw the challengers work over Andre Chase before Nathan Frazer put the leader of Chase U away with a Phoenix Splash.

Axiom and Nathan Frazer's win kicked off their second reign with the NXT Tag Team Championships. They had lost the belts to Andre Chase and Ridge Holland on the August 13 edition of NXT.

Chase and Holland won't be having a rematch for the belts, however, as Ridge Holland turned on Chase U post-match, first taking out Duke Hudson and Riley Osborne before turning his attention to Andre Chase. While Thea Hail pleaded for Holland to stop, the former rugby league player put Andre Chase through the announce table anyway and Chase later needed to be stretchered out of Denver's Ball Arena.

Elsewhere at WWE NXT No Mercy, Giulia made her NXT debut and confronted Roxanne Perez. Joe Hendry also failed to capture the NXT Championship from Ethan Page after the champion hit a Low Blow when special guest referee Trick Williams was distracted.
