WWE heads to the O2 Arena in London, England for next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, and the UK fans will get to witness two title matches. Last night’s show in Bologna, Italy saw the set up and announcement of two championship clashes.
First up is the United States Championship, as a new number one contender was determined. Braun Strowman and Jacob Fatu wrestled for the right to challenge United States Champion LA Knight, but the match ended prematurely as Bloodline members Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga flooded the ring, attacking Strowman and causing a disqualification. This result gave Strowman the win, setting up a title match with brief ally Knight for next week. Reports have emerged in recent weeks of plans for Sikoa vs. Fatu at WrestleMania, and this angle suggests that it might be a reality soon.
Next was the WWE Tag Team Championships, as brand new champions The Street Profits emerged for a celebratory promo. They were interrupted by Legado Del Fantasma and Pretty Deadly, before the Profits defeated Los Garza in an impromptu match. It was officially revealed afterwards that number one contenders Pretty Deadly would be getting their title match in their home country of England next week. WWE’s trip to the O2 Arena in 2023 also saw Pretty Deadly challenge for tag team gold on SmackDown, coming up short against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
