TJPW's Miyu Yamashita Earns Shot At AEW Women's World Title

Defeated Thunder Rosa in a non-title bout

Miyu Yamashita of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling has earned a future shot at the AEW Women's World title, after defeating champion Thunder Rosa in a non-title bout Saturday at Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo.

The match took place at TJPW's Summer Sun Princess 2022 event. Yamashita countered an inside cradle into one of her own to score the pin on the AEW champion.

The two engaged in a staredown after the match before shaking hands.

Rosa previously declared that if Yamashita were to defeat her, she would grant Yamashita a future shot at the AEW Women's title. No date for the match has been given.

At the post-match press conference, Rosa said that Yamashita knows her and AEW's schedules, and that she's more than free to come to the United States and challenge her for the gold there.

Rosa has reigned as AEW Women's World champion since March 16, when she defeated Dr. Britt Baker in a steel cage match to win the title. Rosa has gone on to make successful pay-per-view defenses against Serena Deeb at Double or Nothing, and Toni Storm at Forbidden Door.
