TKO Have No Idea What Vince McMahon Will Do With His Shares

Vince McMahon's future as a TKO shareholder remains a mystery

Vince McMahon is no longer involved with the day-to-day running of WWE following his resignation as TKO Executive Chairman in January but the 78-year-old still holds significant power within TKO as a major shareholder. McMahon sold a substantial chunk of his shares following the WWE-UFC merger into TKO in September 2023 but he still owns approximately 12 percent of the organisation, which gives him voting power.

McMahon has not commented publicly on what he will be doing with the TKO shares and the former WWE CEO hasn't given any hints privately, with TKO President Mark Shapiro admitting during the company's earnings call that TKO have no idea what McMahon is going to do.

"Obviously, we’re talking about Vince McMahon, specifically, in terms of cashing stock. He still holds, I believe, 20 million shares. It's all registered. He'll do whatever he is going to do and we're on the sidelines, we'll have a look, we'll see, we have no idea on timing. We're not having a discussion with him. He's given us no point of view on his motive or if he plans to sell or not sell or if he does, how much. We're going to wait around and find out, just like you," Shapiro said.

Vince McMahon was told to resign as TKO Executive Chairman following a lawsuit filed by Janel Grant that accused him of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse. WWE and John Laurinaitis were also named as defendants in the lawsuit. McMahon remains under federal investigation for a number of sexual assault allegations.
