TNT Title Match Set For January 4 AEW Dynamite

Samoa Joe vs. Darby Allin for the TNT Title on AEW Dynamite

Darby Allin will have the opportunity to regain the TNT Championship in his hometown of Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, January 4.

AEW President Tony Khan announced on social media that Darby will challenge Samoa Joe for the title. The match comes about after Joe's win over Wardlow at New Year's Smash on December 28. Joe cut off Wardlow's man bun following the match before Darby made the save, forcing Joe to leave the ring. Darby then held up the TNT Title as Dynamite went off the air.

Joe and Darby previously clashed over the TNT Title on December 7. The Samoan Submission Machine came out on top on that occasion. Allin is a former TNT Champion, having held the belt for 186 days in late 2020 and 2021.

Already announced for the January 4 edition of Dynamite is a first-time-ever match between Chris Jericho and Ricky Starks. AEW stars Kenny Omega and FTR will also be in action on January 4 in Japan at NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 17 event from the Tokyo Dome.
