Toni Storm To Challenge For IWGP Women's World Title

Toni Storm will face Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Title

Toni Storm lost the AEW Women’s World Championship at AEW All In: London 2024, dropping the gold to former ally Mariah May. However, she will soon have the chance to challenge for another world title, as she is scheduled to face the reigning IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani next month at Stardom Nagoya Golden Fight at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium in Nagoya, Japan on October 5.

At Stardom’s Namba Grand Fight in Osaka, Iwatani and Hanan were victorious in tag team action against AZM & Miyu Amasaki. AEW’s Storm appeared on a video message to deliver her challenge, saying the following:

“Did you forget about me? Stardom, do you remember who I am? Because I have never forgotten you. I have done a lot in your land and I will always respect Japanese pro wrestling but there is one thing that I must do. In 2017, I became the World of Stardom Champion. Some say it was a mistake. I must prove that it wasn’t. October 5, Nagoya, I challenge you Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women’s Championship.”

Storm has been absent from AEW ever since dropping the AEW Women’s World Title to May. She has been doing media work in Australia to promote AEW Grand Slam: Australia next February.
