Tony Khan Admits AEW Referees Missed Illegalities At Dynamite Grand Slam

A tough night for AEW referees

Dynamite Grand Slam was another night where All Elite Wrestling's officials missed illegal actions inside the squared circle.

In the opening contest, Chris Jericho Lowblowed Claudio Castagnoli when referee Aubrey Edwards was unsighted which allowed The Painmaker to connect with the Judas Effect to capture the ROH World Championship. 'Daddy Ass' Billy Gunn also helped The Acclaimed defeat Swerve In Our Glory to capture the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Furthermore, PAC found himself cheating to win against Orange Cassidy to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Title.

AEW President Tony Khan did acknowledge there were issues with the promotion's officiating on Wednesday, and noted he has asked Paul Turner to tighten things up for Rampage Grand Slam.

"Congrats @RefTurnerAEW on refereeing 100 AEW main events! As Senior Official, Paul manages our refs, who do great work, but missed some illegalities in the first few bouts last night I know we can count on Paul, I'm asking him to tighten it up, starting tomorrow on #AEWRampage," Khan tweeted.

AEW referees have come under criticism for their officiating since the promotion was founded, in particular, Rick Knox in tag team matches as he fails to stop illegal talents from getting involved in the action inside the squared circle.
