Although original plans for Kenny Omega vs. Bryan Danielson at AEW All In fell through due to Danielson's broken arm, Tony Khan opted against scheduling another singles match for The Best Bout Machine. Omega will instead be in a trios match at the biggest show in AEW history when he teams with Hangman Page and Kota Ibushi to take on Konosuke Takeshita and Bullet Club Gold's Jay White and Juice Robinson.

The lack of a singles match for Kenny Omega at All In was widely criticised, with some mockingly dubbing the August 27 pay-per-view 'All In: The Road to All Out.' Tony Khan has laughed off the criticism, though, pointing to The Elite being in a trios match in the main event of the original All In.

"I have taken some amusement as people have wondered why The Elite would be in a trios match on All In when the main event of the original All In was a trios match. Featured great wrestlers and we have another Elite trios match with Kota Ibushi in it and top members of The Elite faction in a trios match. And I thought that was kind of fun because that was something from the original All In," Khan said at the pre-All In media call.

The Golden Elite of The Young Bucks and Kota Ibushi defeated Rey Mysterio, Rey Fenix, and Bandido in the main event of 2018's All In. Kenny Omega, meanwhile, was in a singles match at the show, picking up a win over Pentagon Jr.

An option for Kenny Omega at this year's All In was a singles match against Konosuke Takeshita, but that match is reportedly being saved for All Out on September 3.
