Tony Khan Comments On Cody Rhodes' WWE Return

Tony Khan discusses Cody Rhodes' WWE return

After six years outside of the company, Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, defeating Seth Rollins on night one of The Showcase Of The Immortals.

Cody was previously an Executive Vice President in All Elite Wrestling prior to his WWE return but he and wife Brandi Rhodes departed AEW in February 2022 as they were unable to agree to terms on a new deal.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite, Khan commented on Cody's WWE return, noting his focus remains on his promotion.

"I did lose a very prominent free agent but we're debuting one tonight in Samoa Joe. In the past 30 days, we've also debuted Toni Storm, who was incredible last week in her win against The Bunny, and Jeff Hardy, one of the biggest stars in wrestling. We have a lot of excitement happening here, and that's our focus," Khan said.

Rhodes discussed his AEW exit following WrestleMania and he noted "it was just time" for him to leave the promotion. He also mentioned he felt he and Tony Khan were "drifting apart."
