While she has been out of action with a back injury since August, Thunder Rosa remains the AEW Women's World Champion and has not yet been stripped of the title.

That is something Tony Khan has considered, though, he revealed during the pre-Full Gear media call.

"It's something we have considered. It's something to consider. I'm still weighing the pros and cons. Thunder Rosa's a great wrestler, and it's unfortunate that she's injured. It's kept her out a long time. It's not an easy situation and I try to take everything on a case-by-case basis, and I am trying to give Thunder Rosa every opportunity to come back and defend the championship. But eventually, you would have to crown a lineal champion," Khan said.

In Rosa's absence, AEW have crowned Toni Storm as the Interim AEW Women's World Champion. She will defend the gold at Full Gear against Jamie Hayter.

Storm has repeatedly voiced her opposition to just being the Interim AEW Women's World Champion and she did so again during a recent interview with The Ringer.

"Personally, I think she should just come to work and defend her championship like she's supposed to, like a champion should. But if the injury lingers too long, I believe she should probably be stripped. And then I should be the AEW Undisputed Women's World Champion like I was supposed to be at All Out. That's verbatim. I think she should defend her title. I think all champions should defend that championship. That doesn't just go for Thunder Rosa. That goes for everybody," Storm said.
