Tony Khan Reveals Why AEW Dynamite Had 3 Promo Segments

AEW had a talk-heavy episode of Dynamite last week

While All Elite Wrestling usually put an emphasis on the in-ring action on Dynamite, the September 28 episode from Philadelphia featured three promo segments.

First up was the championship celebration with the Jericho Appreciation Society which led to a match between Bryan Danielson and Matt Menard, before Saraya addressed the AEW women's division, and MJF and Wheeler Yuta had an exchange to continue their programme.

The decision to have such a promo-heavy show did receive some criticism, but Tony Khan explained why he changed Dynamite's format for September 28, tweeting: "Wednesday's #AEWDynamite after #GrandSlam was the first Dynamite with 3 lengthy live promo segs in one show since 12/9/20 following #WinterIsComing. Both 12/9/20 + this week needed these promos to follow up on newsworthy supercards; I promise we won't lose focus on the wrestling!

AEW will follow up the September 28 episode of Dynamite with plenty of in-ring action this week. Already announced for Wednesday's episode is MJF vs. Wheeler Yuta, Hangman Page vs. Rush, and Jay Lethal vs. Darby Allin, among other matches.
