Tony Khan Says "2024 AEW Is The Next 2021 AEW"

2021 was a big year for AEW. The company exited the pandemic era, returning to full arenas full of raucous fans followed by an electric 2021 Double Or Nothing PPV. Over the next few months, arrivals from the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole, in addition to the culmination of Adam Page’s thrilling storyline with The Elite, made 2021 the most memorable 12 months in AEW history. 

Last night on X, Tony Khan made a post which was captioned “2024 AEW is the next 2021 AEW”, and he accompanied this post with a lovely smiling picture of himself wearing a pair of silly 2021 glasses. It isn’t fully known right now what Khan means, but fans would likely be able to take a good guess.

Over the last few months and in the last few days in particular, there have been more reports of both Mercedes Mone and Kazuchika Okada being AEW bound. One report comes from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and this suggests that the expectation is that AEW is more likely than WWE to score the signings of these big free agents.
