Tony Nese Appears In The Crowd At AEW Dynamite

Former Cruiserweight champion in the house

Former WWE Cruiserweight champion Tony Nese appeared in the audience during Saturday night's AEW Dynamite broadcast in Orlando.

Nese was spotlighted twice during the broadcast, during the two World title Eliminator tournament matches featuring Bryan Danielson against Dustin Rhodes, and Eddie Kingston against Lance Archer. On both occasions, the AEW broadcast team put over Nese as being one of the more prominent free agents in the industry.

Nese worked for WWE for about five years from 2016 to 2021. After competing in the Cruiserweight Classic, Nese was part of the foundation of the revived Cruiserweight division, wrestling on 205 Live and in showcase matches on Monday Night Raw.

Nese won the WWE Cruiserweight title on the kickoff portion of WrestleMania 35 in 2019, ending the six-month reign of Buddy Murphy. He held the title for over two and a half months himself, before dropping it to Drew Gulak in a triple threat match on the Stomping Grounds kickoff show.

After being released from WWE this past June 25, Nese has since wrestled for Create a Pro and several other northeast and southeast indies.
