Top NXT Star Works WWE Main Event Taping

Could a top NXT star be on their way to the WWE main roster? 

WWE taped this week's episode of Main Event ahead of the season premiere of Monday Night Raw on October 10. WWE brought in NXT talents for the taping, including former NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes who picked up a win over Cedric Alexander. 

Von Wagner was also in action on Main Event, losing to R-Truth by DQ after the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion performed the Eddie Guerrero spot with a steel chair where they pretend to have been hit. 

Hayes has been one of NXT's top stars since the 2.0 era began and he has twice held the NXT North American Championship. He will look to reclaim the gold at Halloween Havoc on October 22 in a Ladder Match for the vacant title. 

Ricochet recently tipped Hayes to be a success on the main roster, saying: "Raw, Smackdown, everywhere he goes, he's going to show out and show why he belongs there, so I don't see why not. If Solo's wandering around here doing anything, I don't see why 'Melo can't be doing the same thing."
