It appears that every man, woman, child, and their respective dogs expected to see Triple H vs. a returning Batista happening at WrestleMania 35 in April.

The pair's appearance as part of the Evolution reunion on SmackDown Live 1000 appeared to confirm the match as a distinct possibility as both The Game and The Animal shared a couple of awkward moments.

However, then Crown Jewel happened, and Triple H tore a pectoral muscle in the match against The Undertaker and Kane - going under the knife for surgery on November 8.

It looks like a potential Batista vs. Triple H match could be back on now, as Hunter revealed that he was cleared for a return to the ring a week ago and has begun the process of intensifying his workouts.

Speaking on a media call ahead of NXT TakeOver: Pheonix, Triple H said: “I just got cleared to actually start training. Anyone that’s had a serious injury knows the difference between rehabbing a couple of hours a day and actually training. The difference is trying to get better vs. actually bettering yourself.

“So, I just got clearance to start training and I’m excited about that as I sit here right now extremely sore from that training. It was one week ago I got the clearance so the training has already been stepped up. But I’m feeling good.”
