Two NXT Stars Receive New Names

More name changes coming

Two women's talents from NXT have received brand new names, according to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

According to the report, former NXT UK Women's champion Kay Lee Ray will be known as Alba Fyre going forward.

Meanwhile, former American Ninja Warrior star Kacy Catanzaro has been renamed Katana Chance.

The changes come amid a report from Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Vince McMahon issued a memo, barring wrestlers rising through WWE from using their real names, or names they gained a measure of fame with on the indie scene.

After WALTER became Gunther earlier this year, there have been numerous changes since, including Pete Dunne becoming Butch, Marcel Barthel becoming Ludwig Kaiser, Raquel Gonzalez changing her surname to Rodriguez, and Raul Mendoza becoming Cruz Del Toro.

Kay Lee Ray officially signed with WWE in early 2019, and joined the NXT UK brand. She held the NXT UK Women's title for nearly two years from August 2019 to June 2021.

Catanzaro signed with WWE in August 2017. She last wrestled on March 8, taking part in the semi finals of the Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
