UK Parliament To Debate Future Of British Wrestling

The debate is scheduled for April 22

The future of British Wrestling will be debated in parliament next week. APPG on Wrestling Co-Chair Mark Fletcher MP secured the debate and it will take place just before 5:30 pm BST on Thursday, April 22.

The debate comes on the heels of the conclusion of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Professional Wrestling in Great Britain and subsequent report, which was published last week. The parliamentary event will allow MPs to highlight some of the report's recommendations and to understand the UK Government's initial positions and intentions towards implementing the report's findings.

Fans can watch the debate here.

The 103-page report into British Wrestling outlined 30 recommendations to help wrestling in the United Kingdom reach its full potential, including the establishment of trade bodies and the designation of wrestling events and promotions as performative and training schools as sporting. You can read more about the report here. Tom Campbell also spoke to Mark Fletcher MP about the report last week, which you can read about here
