Adam Cole hasn’t wrestled since all the way back in September of 2023 when he was ruled out of action after jumping off the ramp during MJF’s AEW World Championship match with Samoa Joe at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam and injured his ankle. In the months which followed, Cole remained present on AEW programming in segments involving Roderick Strong, MJF, and others, until it was finally revealed that he was the masked “Devil” and leader of the Undisputed Kingdom, turning his back on MJF at Worlds End 2023.

Cole has sporadically appeared via a wheelchair to be by the side of his stablemates, and he also walked to the ring by himself at Double Or Nothing 2024 when MJF returned and laid him out with a brainbuster. This physicality did not yet lead to Cole’s return to the ring though. However, a positive update has been provided by Fightful Select when it comes to the return of Adam Cole.

Cole was present at the recent August 14 episode of AEW Dynamite this week in a backstage capacity, which led to word spreading that Cole was resuming training hopefully as early as next week to ready him for an in-ring return. He had been taken off the road in recent months due to the slow process of his recovery, but the fact that he was backstage could indicate that his recovery has sped up, with signs pointing towards his return in the near future.
