Update On AEW Talks With Kairi Sane

Ever since her surprise release from WWE following WrestleMania 42, there has been much talk regarding the future of KAIRI (formerly known as Kairi Sane in WWE). Over recent months, it was noted that AEW had entered into discussions with the former multi-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, though nothing official or substantial has yet emerged from these reports. A new update on KAIRI’s future has finally come to light, though she has no new home as of yet.

Per Fightful Select, talks have still been ongoing between AEW and KAIRI, but she had still not been signed as of WrestleDream weekend. It is noted that the hold up of any deal being completed between the two sides is due to there being heavy interest in KAIRI heading to a promotion in Japan, where she returned to following her previous WWE exit, which saw her become the IWGP Women’s World Champion.

AEW has capitalized on several of WWE’s releases in 2026, bringing in the likes of Tommaso Ciampa and most recently Ilja Dragunov, who made his debut at the WrestleDream 2026 PPV.
