The recent releases of some older WWE talents, such as R-Truth and Carlito, has fuelled speculation that more performers could be on the chopping block due to their advancing age and presumed sizeable contracts.
One of those is AJ Styles, with some assuming that the Phenomenal One is 'finishing up' with the company after he lost to El Grande Americano in a Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifying match also featuring CM Punk on the June 2 edition of Raw. PWInsider, however, noted that this is not the case and stated that Styles is regularly scheduled for Raw tapings going forward.
While WWE may not have designs on finishing AJ up, the 48-year-old himself plans to retire by June 2027, claiming that he will absolutely not wrestle past 50.
Before he calls time on his in-ring career, Styles would like to wrestle at least one match for TNA, preferably against Frankie Kazarian. Given the working relationship between TNA and WWE, this seems more likely than not.
