Update On Chuck Taylor's AEW Future Following End Of In-Ring Career

More on Chuck Taylor’s AEW future following in-ring retirement

It seems as though Chuck Taylor’s in-ring career has come to an end, with the revelation that his recent parking lot fight with former tag partner Trent Beretta was the swan-song of the ‘Kentucky Gentleman’ after his ankle injury was deemed career ending.

Prior to the fight with Beretta on the April 25 episode of Rampage, Chuckie T’s last match came in early October 2023, and a report from Fightful Select states that Taylor knew the extent of his injuries heading into the fight with Beretta, and that he wanted to do the match knowing it could be his last.

The report also states that Taylor has been working backstage in All Elite Wrestling as a coach/producer ‘for months’ and it seems as though the former PWG World Champion could transition into a backstage role should this indeed be the end of his in-ring career.

Taylor’s ankle fracture is deemed to be so bad that fragments of the bone underneath cartilage have developed necrosis, and even with surgery it is at this moment deemed unlikely that Taylor could compete again. Fingers crossed we get to see ‘No Gimmicks Needed’ Steve the Samurai wrestle again in the future.
