Update On Future Of AEW Battle Of The Belts

AEW Battle of the Belts isn't going anywhere

All Elite Wrestling aren't planning to scrap their Battle of the Belts series.

Tony Khan told John Pollock and Brandon Thurston during an interview for POST Wrestling that Battle of the Belts will continue. There had been speculation about the show amid the impending premiere of Collision on Saturday, June 17 as Battle of the Belts had previously aired on a Saturday or Friday night.

"Yeah, Battle of the Belts will continue, which is great. As far as where the next episode of Battle of the Belts will run on TNT, whether it be on a Friday or Saturday, is a great question. We're still talking about that. We'll have an answer about that soon," Tony Khan said.

Inspired by the Clash of the Champions TV specials held by the NWA and WCW, Battle of the Belts premiered on January 8, 2022. The shows are built around three title matches and have aired as one-hour specials on TNT once every quarter.

Two new champions have been crowned on the specials. Sammy Guevara defeated Dustin Rhodes to become the Interim TNT Champion on the first Battle of the Belts special. Scorpio Sky then defeated Guevara for the TNT Championship in a Ladder Match at Battle of the Belts II in April 2022.
