Update On Gable Steveson Following WWE Draft Reportedly Emerges

Steveson was surprisingly drafted to WWE Raw

The selection of Gable Steveson during the 2021 WWE Draft was arguably the shock choice of the entire proceedings, with the Olympic Gold Medallist yet to even make his official debut in the promotion.

Steveson was chosen as a final round pick for Monday Night Raw during the draft, announcing the intention for WWE's most recent high-profile signee to compete on the red brand. Steveson signed his deal with WWE back in September and is currently finishing up with school in Minnesota.

According to Fightful Select, the decision to draft Steveson was not one that was kept a secret backstage in WWE. The 21-year-old's name was listed on internal run sheets, with staff, production crew and other talent being aware of the plan to include Steveson in the draft during the day ahead of the show.

WWE did want to keep Steveson's inclusion a surprise for fans however, which is why the youngster was not included in any form of promotional graphics or the draft pool imagery.

It is also noted that, despite Steveson being drafted, there are no imminent plans for him to appear on WWE television.
