Update On Gail Kim's WWE Status After Being Backstage At NXT

Gail Kim recently returned to WWE, with the TNA legend backstage at the June 17 NXT TV taping.

It is unknown in what capacity Kim was working whilst backstage, or if she was working at all. However a report from Fightful Select suggests this wasn’t the first time as of late that Kim had been backstage at NXT, and when asked WWE sources said Kim isn’t officially back with WWE as of this moment.

Kim’s presence at NXT shows has been kept very quiet, with both WWE and AEW reportedly holding interest in acquiring the TNA Hall of Famer’s services since her firing in early 2025. Prior to her firing, Kim was working in a variety of backstage roles within TNA such as in production and in talent relations.

Although best known for her runs in TNA/IMPACT, Kim did wrestle for WWE across two stints from 2002-2004 and from 2008-2011, with Kim standing as a one-time WWE Women’s Champion in the promotion.

Kim isn’t the only TNA name to have been helping out with WWE in recent months, with former Knockout Jazz having coached at the WWE Performance Center in May.
