Update On Grizzled Young Veterans' Contract Status Amid TNA Run

More on Grizzled Young Veterans TNA Wrestling status

The Grizzled Young Veterans arrived in TNA Wrestling as the company underwent it’s successful relaunch earlier this year, with former WWE NXT stars James Drake and Zack Gibson instantly setting their sights on the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

GYV are set to face current champions ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey) at TNA No Surrender on February 23 in the finals of a hotly contested best-of-three series. Despite their hot start in the promotion, a report from Fightful Select states that the team haven’t signed a full-time deal with the company.

Gibson and Drake spoke directly with Fightful, saying they are ‘completely independent’, an important factor for their team after exiting WWE. The two did state that they would be open to signing a full-time deal somewhere, be it TNA, All Elite Wrestling, or even a future return to WWE, should the circumstances make sense.

In WWE NXT, the pair originally wrestled under their GYV gimmick, before being repackaged as Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid , with the team going under the name Schism as part of Joe Gacy’s Dyad group.
